Yearning "Evershade"

On their fourth longplayer „Evershade", YEARNING consequently continue to go the way, they took up with the 1997 released debut album „With Tragedies Adorned". The powerful guitars and the forcing drumming are the characteristic features in a, for the listener not always understandable song structure, which the listener only recognizes when listening to the CD several times.Furthermore, YEARNING put a great importance into other elements, which flow into their songs. As there are on the one hand the very variable style of singer Juhani Palomäki, who can sing deep Death Metal growls as well as clean and melancholic vocals. In every song he interprets the band differently and by that he gives the music of YEARNING a very special style. His guitar solos underline the impressing scary mood on the CD and make „Evershade" a pretty difficult CD to listen to. You are impressed by the scary atmosphere, created by YEARNING.On the other hand, YEARNING, who function as a duo since their second album, profe the listener, by taking accustic guitars and classical music forms in their song structure, that they are excellent song writers with the feeling for deep melancholy. But this is not enough: the drums and guitars are paired in almost every song with a bombastic, orchestral background, which fits perfectly into the whole impression of the CD and which makes it an absolutely experience to listen to.The only negative thing is, that some songs are too long and the guaranty for catchy tunes is only sometimes present. Besides that, the CD is the absolute killer !!!! For all those of you, who worship melancholy and darkness, it is a duty to buy „Evershade" and it has to be in every Gothic collection, whereas I don´t want to put YEARNING into this genre, because therefore, they have a too high degree of independence and it is very difficult to put them into any genre. People, who are less rooted, should test this CD only by taking precautions.
